Humans and Environment

How do different groups (or even nations) manage the shared natural resources across their boundaries?
Can we measure the influence that the indigenous peoples of North America had on their environment before Euroamerican contact?
Can these measurements be used to examine relationships between people and our surroundings, rather than simply discussing indigenous uses of plants and animals separately from the roles of each in their ecosystem?
Can we apply this knowledge to current concerns? These questions excite me. My research is building the information we need to start answering them—as well as discovering what questions lie beyond them.
